Solitaire - Canfield
Created by Paso Clip
Produced by Moo Town Games

Canfield is part of the Solitaire Suite For Second Life created by Paso Clip and produced by Moo Town Games. It was introduced into the suite as part of version 2.1.

Canfield was named after the owner of a celebrated gaming house in the old-time resort town of Sarasota Springs, N.Y. :-)

Object Of The Game

  • To move all the cards to the foundations.

Foundations
(4 piles: complete these piles to win the game)

  • The base card (the first foundation) for this game will vary and be placed at the start of the game. This does count as 1 card for scoring purposes.
  • Build up in suit from Ace to King (for example, a 2 of Hearts can be played on an Ace of Hearts) from the base card to rank just below the base card until each pile contains 13 cards.
  • Ranking of cards is continuous: build Ace after King when necessary.

Tableau
(7 columns)

  • Build down in alternating colors (for example, a 10 of Spade can be played on a Jack of Hearts).
  • Ranking of cards is continuous: build King after Ace when necessary.
  • The top card of each pile is available for play on another tableau pile or on the foundations.
  • Any face up card, no matter how deep it is in a pile, can be moved to make a build;
  • All the cards covering it are moved with it as a unit.
  • Spaces are automatically filled by the top card of the reserve. When the reserve is empty, spaces may be filled with any card.

Stock

  • Turn up 3 cards at a time from the stock by clicking.

Reserve
(1 pile of 13 cards)

  • The top card is available for play on foundations or tableau.

More Details :

The opening tableau has four columns, each initially containing one card, four foundation stacks, and a reserve column initially containing 13 cards.

At the start of the game, a card is dealt into the first foundation stack, and each foundation stack must thereafter start with that rank.

The object of the game is to build up the foundations in ascending sequences for each of the four suits. Sequences may wrap around, meaning the Ace goes on top of a King and then the 2 would go on top of the Ace.

The tableau columns are built down by descending rank and alternating colors. For example, a red 8 can be placed on to a black 9. These columns may also wrap around like the foundation stacks.

Open spaces on the tableau are automatically filed with the top card from the reserve column. Once the reserve column no longer contains any cards, open spaces may be filed with any card or sequence of cards.

Cards are dealt from the deck 3 cards at a time. Only the top card may be used.
