On Monday, November 8th, 2010, Linden Lab announced that games that use automation preform actions on behalf of the player during a game would no longer be allowed to operate under the Linden Lab Second Life Terms of Service. Specifically this was intended to stop the use of "autoplay" on a number of games, including some of those produced and used at Moo Town Games.
How This Effects Me As A Player
Effective immediately, the following games at Moo Town will no longer support the use of autoplay.
Big Bang
Deal Classic
Deal Extreme
King Bing
King Bing Slideout
King Bing Challenge
No Devil
No Devil Slideout
Roller
Roller 2
Solitaire (Auto Move)
Zealy
Zyngo Wyld
Zyngo Devils
Zyngo Kickers
What If I Find A Game At Moo Town With Autoplay Still Active
Immediately contact Paso Clip and let him know. Moo Town has over 700 games in 3 regions, dispite our best efforts it is possible we missed one or two.
What If I Play Games At Other Locations That Still Have Autoplay
We strongly suggest you avoid these places until they are in compliance. It is our understanding that players who play these games are at risk of account suspension or termination.
How This Effects Me As A Game Owner
If you are a current owner of No Devil, King Bing or Zealy. You need to disable the auto play feature of the game by going to the configuration notecard located inside the game and change the autoplay option to 0. Once you have changed the autoplay option, you must then touch the game and select "Re-Config".
If you are a current owner of Solitaire you will need to update your games to Solitaire 3.61. This update will be available late in the day on November 10th at the Moo Town Games Store.
If you are a current owner of any Slideout game, an update will be installed in your games to disable the autoplay option as soon as possible.
What About "Highlighting" Scripts That Show What Moves Are Available
Linden Lab released this statment:
Several game operators and developers have asked about the use of glow or highlighting in game play. Highlighting has some of the same effect as automation - to reduce the need for the user to engage his or her physical and mental skill during play. We therefore do not allow it.
I Own Games And Don't Want To Comply
Game owners who continue to use autoplay feature of games risk the termination of their Second Life accounts. Moo Town Games will not allow our products to be used to viloiate the new rules. Any game owner found to be doing this will have their game licenses suspended until they have complied with the new rules.
